The Church celebrates today the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph as part of its ongoing celebration of the Christmas season. The Incarnation of the Son of God in Jesus Christ brought about not only a restoration of human nature, but the sanctification of natural family life through Jesus' birth into a human family. Yet Jesus' mission was to found a new, supernatural Holy Family, the Church, as a means for reuniting the human race as one family under God, giving Christians a mission in the world to to be that Holy Family and to invite others into it. This mission also includes the renewal of family life, giving a natural foundation for the grace of God to work in the lives of children and spouses for the revitalization of the world family.
