The most effective form of instruction is to model a way of life to others. Jesus himself did this by receiving the baptism of repentance proclaimed by John, his Forerunner. Through this event, he taught his disciples about their own need for repentance, yes, but even more their great dignity in having received the Holy Spirit through Baptism and become children of God. As St. Paul affirms in his letters, this divine adoption of humans is a claim to the inheritance of eternal, resurrected life. But Christians are not merely called to enjoy this expectation and its newfound peace, but to model it in the world through love, inviting others to have peace with our Father by making Christ's identity their own. Then there will be true justice, true peace in the world as one family in him.
